The 1959 Le Mans-winning Aston Martin DBR1/2 is the most celebrated vehicle in the British marque’s history. In celebration of Aston Martin’s centenary, a precious fragment from this beautiful and historic car is being placed in the backplate of a modified original version of this C70 DBR1 Chronometer.

Only 100 examples of this watch will ever be created, it represents a rare and unique opportunity to wear a piece of British motor racing history on your wrist.

The C70 DBR1 Chronometer was created in homage to the only ever Aston Martin victory at Le Mans. So, enhanced with a precious fragment of the winning DBR1/2 – which recently sold for £20milion – its timeless design was the perfect choice to celebrate 100 years of this famous marque.

When Christopher Bennett of TMBArtMetal showed us the aluminium panel that formed part of the winning Aston Martin DBR1/2 in the Le Mans 24 hour race of 1959 – we knew we simply had to acquire it to incorporate into a watch which will make a singular celebration of 100 years of Aston Martin.

Master watchmaker, Johannes Jahnke, is arranging in Switzerland for the first roundels to be carved from the priceless metal, including a perfect facsimile of the car’s iconic number 5, before being incorporated into a new back-plate design which will be protected for posterity by museum grade sapphire crystal.
