2012/11/22 - Christopher Ward the new C9 Harrison Automatic
Christopher Ward’s C9 Automatic Epitomises English Understatement
The C9 Automatic is the final range of watches created by Christopher Ward to celebrate the 250th anniversary of John Harrison’s ground breaking H4 chronometer which solved the centuries old "Longitude Problem". Harrison’s breakthrough in 1762 made accurate navigation possible at sea for the first time and saved countless lives in the process.
With its subtle English design and Swiss precision engineering – the embellished Sellita SW200-1 movement is visible through the crystal on the reverse of the case – the C9 Automatic is not only a fitting tribute to the great horologist, but it also encapsulates the ethos of Christopher Ward.
The 43mm over-sized case shows off the superbly engineered optic white matt-finish dial and gold indexes, making it feel both contemporary and timeless – a goal that few watches achieve with such understated elegance.
