It is the very principle of fusion, so dear to Hublot: Hublot connects the past with the future and connects respect for tradition with a 21st-century creative vision.
The inspiration behind this watch was simple: a stained glass window – essentially it's a skeleton. An outline filled with coloured glass. Take Art Deco stained glass windows, for example. They play on their geometric forms and myriad colours. It is exactly the same creative concept here: The skeleton watch movement serves as the framework for an artistic creation, a colourful stained-glass window, miniaturised in a watch.
It features a HUB6017 movement made by the Manufacture, a skeleton tourbillon comprising 251 components, a 5-day power reserve and a contemporary graphic design; there are no fewer than 15 small spaces – 15 tiny openings housing a sliver of glass secured with O-rings which grip the glass, ensuring that it does not break through heat expansion. Technically, this is a very high-tech glass which is used in physics to filter the different frequencies or colours of light. It is Swiss Made, and this special quality guarantees exceptional stability and durability. It is precision laser-cut to the nearest micron, and its shades of colour will not fade over time. The interplay of colours and shades is thus almost infinite.
The first 4 references in this collection will be available in red or blue tones. And in future? This technology already offers 10 colours of translucent glass, and several shades are possible for each colour. This means that there could be thousands of possible colour combinations, potentially guaranteeing each customer a unique watch. And what if we were to use other materials instead of glass? What about fine slivers of ceramic, semi-precious stones, metal or wood? With this unique concept, patented by Hublot, there is an endless range of possibilities to create a different watch, which today plays on its highly colourful translucency.
