Blue Hour
The new Sixties models make their appearance in midnight blue

Since their debut in 2007 the Sixties models from Glashütte Original have proven very popular, and not only with fans of "vintage" trends. The Saxon Manufactory collection mirrors the exciting era of the 60s in a look that suits the times: retro-modern, elegant and independent. Striking and stylish at once, the characteristic details and form of the individual watches bring the unmistakable look of the 1960s back to life.

This year the German watchmaker adds two timepieces to the successful collection, both featuring a particularly fascinating colour: the new versions of the Sixties and the Sixties Panorama Date present themselves in shimmering midnight blue.

The domed German silver dials are galvanised in Glashütte Original's own dial manufactory and given a sunburst finish. Stylised Arabic numerals appear at hours 3, 6, 9 and 12 within a finely drawn white minute ring. Lightly curved hour and minute hands in white gold with superluminova highlighting and an elegant seconds hand assure that the time remains perfectly legible at all hours. The pure design of the watch is enhanced by precisely milled hour indexes.

The Sixties is presented in a 39 mm polished stainless steel case, while the Sixties Panorama Date has a 42 mm case. On this model, the white numerals of the characteristic Glashütte Original Panorama Date display appear on a blue ground that is perfectly matched with the colour of the dial.

A specially formed sapphire crystal case back, which the Saxon Manufactory first presented in the Sixties collection, is a feature of the two new models as well, permitting enhanced, broader views of the Calibre 39-52, which powers the Sixties, and the Calibre 39-47, heart of the Sixties Panorama Date. Both automatic movements feature a 40 hour power reserve and are finished exquisitely to meet the Saxon watchmaker's extremely demanding standards. Characteristic features of Glashütte watchmaking present here are the bevelled edges, polished steel components, a swan neck fine adjustment, Glashütte three-quarter plate with Glashütte ribbing and a skeletonized rotor with oscillating mass in 21-carat gold.

Both models round off their perfect 60s look with a dark blue Louisiana alligator leather bracelet, held in place on the wrist by a pin buckle in mat stainless steel.
