Roger Dubuis joins hands with Emirates Airline in the “Time for Change” initiative to improve children’s lives
Roger Dubuis, a leader in Fine Watchmaking and pioneer of contemporary skeleton calibres, and the Emirates Airline Foundation, are coming together in a charity initiative aimed at bringing joy and enhancing the lives of children around the world.
The ‘Time for Change’ initiative will raise funds for the Emirates Airline Foundation through a silent auction of a unique piece: the Excalibur Skeleton Double Flying Tourbillon. The timepiece, designed exclusively for the partnership, is Roger Dubuis’ most iconic creation, a true collector’s item! All the proceeds of the auction will go towards the Emirates Airline Foundation’s many programs dedicated to bettering the lives of children all over the world.
The ‘Time for Change’ auction will run from August 15th 2014 to March 15th 2015. Passengers on all Emirates flights can bid for a chance to own a collector’s dream by filling in a bid form in-flight. The winning bidder will be invited for a VIP visit to the Roger Dubuis Manufacture in Geneva, Switzerland for an up-close look at the savoir-faire and mastery that go into fashioning some of the world’s most iconic timepieces. The winner will also meet the master watchmaker who crafted the timepiece.
Those interested can view and submit their bids for the Excalibur Skeleton Double Flying Tourbillon at the Roger Dubuis Boutique at The Boulevard, Emirates Towers in Dubai from August 15th 2014 to March 15th 2015.
“We are extremely proud to join hands with Emirates to make a difference in the lives of children and enable them to live brighter, happier lives,” said Jean-Marc Pontroué, CEO of Roger Dubuis. “The Excalibur Skeleton Double Flying Tourbillon is among our finest creations and we hope to be able to raise the maximum amount for the Foundation.”
“This collaboration with Roger Dubuis will go a long way in our efforts to positively impact the lives of children,” said Terry Daly, Board Member of the Emirates Airline Foundation, and Emirates’ Divisional Senior Vice President – Service Delivery. “There is great need to garner international support to help millions of children around the world and improve their quality of life. We hope this initiative will make a meaningful difference.”
The Excalibur Skeleton Double Flying Tourbillon is a ground-breaker in the world of watchmaking. A masterpiece from a brand known for its daring technical innovativeness, the timepiece brings together for the first time the skeleton and the double flying tourbillion in an extravagant exercise in style and watchmaking expertise.
The timepiece is powered by the extremely technical RD01SQ movement, comprised of 301 parts that ensure greater precision thanks to a differential system that averages the rates of the two tourbillons. As with every other masterpiece from the Roger Dubuis collections, the Excalibur Skeleton Double Flying Tourbillon carries the Poinçon de Genève, the seal of watchmaking excellence.
As the only watch Manufacture in the world to have all of its timepieces embossed with the Poinçon de Genève, the most demanding signature in Fine Watchmaking, Roger Dubuis has carved out an exclusive niche in the world of Haute Horlogerie thanks to its expertise in architectural and technical mechanisms combined with powerful, daring designs.
