CALIBER RM38-01: manual winding tourbillon movement with hours, minutes and G-sensor.

Dimensions: 42.70 x 49.94 x 16.15 mm

MAIN FEATURES

POWER RESERVE Circa 48 hours (±10%).

BASEPLATE, BRIDGES MADE IN GRADE 5 TITANIUM The baseplate and the bridges have been finished in grade 5 titanium PVD treated, a biocompatible, highly corrosion- resistant and remarkably rigid alloy, which enables the gear train to function effortlessly. The alloy is 90% grade 5 titanium, 6 % aluminium and 4% vanadium. This combination further increases its mechanical properties, which explains its frequent use in the aerospace, aeronautical and automobile industries.

The skeletonised baseplate and the bridges have been subjected to intensive and complete validation tests to optimize their resistance capacities.

G-FORCE INDICATOR Composed of over 50 parts and measuring a mere 17 mm, the G-sensor is designed to visually display the number of G’s accumulated. The G-sensor system operates on the principle of displacement of a weight, and a needle on the scale indicates whether the number of G saccumulated. The G-sensor can record up to 20-G’s of acceleration. A push-piece at 9 o’clock quickly resets it to zero.

FREE SPRUNG BALANCE WITH VARIABLE INERTIA It guarantees greater reliability when subjected to shock and also during movement assembly and disassembly, hence better chronometric results overtime. The regulator index is eliminated and a more accurate and repeatable adjustment is possible thanks to 4 small adjustable weights located directly on the balance.

FAST ROTATING BARREL (6 hours per revolution instead of 7.5 hours) This type of barrel has the following advantages: - The phenomenon of periodic internal mainspring adhesion is significantly diminished, thereby increasing performance, - Provision of an excellent mainspring delta curve with an ideal power reserve/performance/regularity ratio.

BARREL PAWL WITH PROGRESSIVE RECOIL This device permits a profitable winding gain (circa 20%), especially during the winding start. It is also helpful in the distribution of the mainspring’s internal tension.

WINDING BARREL TEETH AND THIRD-WHEEL PINION WITH CENTRAL INVOLUTE PROFILE The central involute profile of the winding barrel teeth and pinion provides an optimal pressure angle of 20°. This promotes effective rotary motion and allows for compensation of possible variations in the engagement of the going train, thus insuring excellent torque transmission with a distinct improvement in performance.

SPLINE SCREWS IN GRADE 5 TITANIUM FOR THE BRIDGES This permits better control of the torque applied to the screws during assembly. These screws are therefore unaffected by physical manipulation during assembly or disassembly and age well.

CASE The ceramic TZP-G was chosen for the RM 38-01 Bubba Watson's bezel and the caseback. This alloy is based on aluminium oxide powder tubes injected at a pressure of 2,000 bar. This high-pressure injection increases rigidity by 20-30% and reduces the material's porosity to an absolute minimum. TZP-G has the reputation of being a particularly scratch-resistant material (1,400 Vickers). The green color is obtained after injection of the colourings in the material.

A long and difficult machining and grinding process using diamond tools is necessary to create the complex forms of the bezel and caseback, which are given a final matt surface finish.

These qualities make this the ideal material for a bezel, an are highly exposed to impact. The caseband is in grade 5 titanium with a protective white rubber casing.
The tripartite case is water resistant to 50 meters, ensured by two Nitril O-ring seals. It is assembled using 20 grade 5 titanium spline screws and abrasion-resistant washers in 316L stainless steel.
